JFR Lunatic Torch review by Don José

Today I will be reviewing the

JFR Lunatic Torch

by Aganorsa Leaf.

If this is your first time here, my reviews rate each cigar on 10 factors and each factor gets a rating out of 10 giving me an overall out of 100. The 10 factors are: Construction, Draw, Burn, Flavour, 1/3 overall, 2/3 overall, 3/3 overall, Journey (how well it flows), Value for money and Overall Enjoyment.
Ok, so let’s take a look at how this stick is put together.

Brand Aganorsa Leaf
 Size Dreamlands 6x60
Corojo ‘99
Estelí and Jalapa.
Estelí and Jalapa.

Originally released as a single size in 2016, the JFR Lunatic Torch line will now consist of three thick new sizes: Visionaries, measuring 6 1/2 inches by 52 ring gauge; Dreamlands, 6 1/2 by 60; and Mad Folk, 4 3/4 by 70. The original Churchill vitola will no longer be part of the line.

The JFR Lunatic Torch features a shaggy foot where the filler and binder are exposed on the first half-inch of the cigar. This allows the flavor of the binder and fillers of the lit cigar to come forward before blending with the flavor from the wrapper. That said, its not really that noticable, not as much as say the Egg Roll by Punch where the wrapper hits and its a different cigar, I wonder if its due to the amount left unwrapped in this case, half and inch is only 12.7mm and in reality this sample looked more like 10mm than 13.. and that burnt up fairly quickly without a wrapper on it so I'm not sure the flavour pre-wrapper really set in for me.
A little about the wrapper itself.
Corojo ’99 – the last native Cuban priming, developed for wrapper leaf in 1999, but also widely planted in Ecuador, Nicaragua, Kentucky, and several other regions, where this seed has thrived.
Corojo tobacco was originally grown in the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba, It was developed and grown by Diego Rodriguez at his farm Santa Ines del Corojo and was so popular in pre revolution Cuba that between the 1930s and the 1990s nearly all Cuban cigars, regardless of brand or factory, used Corojo wrappers. Today no 'pure' Corojo is grown in Cuba, rather grown exclusively in the Jamastran valley of Honduras and Western Kentucky in the United States.
Ok time to see how it stacks up.
Construction   8/10
Burn 9/10
Draw 10/10
Flavour  10/10
Complexity  9/10
Strength 87%
First 1/3 9/10
Second 1/3 10/10
Third 1/3 10/10
Construction & Burn
The construction is what i would call 'rustic', the shaggy foot may be contributing to that look but it isn't the only thing making me say that, there is also a slight bend to the cigar overall and you can see lots of 'shape' to from the binders through the wrapper. Its one of those cigars that, you know, actually looks hand-rolled. Burn wise however, it is perfect! The shaggy foot gives it a bit of a miss matched start but it quickly rights itself and burns evenly the rest of the way.

Flavour & Complexity
This thing is f**king delicious. I read a review from another reviewer prior to smoking this and he said that he wasn't that impressed by this stick, but then he also said it had a closed foot so I'm not sure what to make of either statements... Flavours are of White Pepper, Aniseed, caramel and a hint of cocao.
This stick has a bit of a kick to it, not full on but noticeable. Ill call it full strength, might be only just into the full strength category however.
DAMN. I could smoke this cigar all day. Even after a 6x60 I haven't had enough. The original JFR Lunatic was an outstanding cigar and this might even be better. 94 points from me.
