Back with another review, today we have the
La Mandarria (Limited Edition)
by Casa Cuevas
If this is your first time here, my reviews rate each cigar on 10 factors and each factor gets a rating out of 10 giving me an overall out of 100. The 10 factors are: Construction, Draw, Burn, Flavour, 1/3 overall, 2/3 overall, 3/3 overall, Journey (how well it flows), Value for money and Overall Enjoyment.
let’s take a look at how this stick is put together.
Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic
"The inspiration for Casa Cuevas La Mandarria cigar came about when Cuevas’ Miami headquarters was robbed of its fine cigars. The thieves used sledgehammers to break through the warehouse wall and take off with the goods. The La Mandarria (Spanish for sledgehammer) sports an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper that conceals a Nicaraguan binder, which houses fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Handmade in the Dominican Republic, the La Mandarria is considered Casa Cuevas’ first full-bodied, full-strength cigar. A pigtail cap and shaggy foot give the La Mandarria a very stylish flair. The Casa Cuevas La Mandarria is a limited edition cigar only 500 boxes of 20 cigars were created."
Casa Cuevas are go-to brand for me, and while the Habano from their regular line is not my pick of the bunch I am excited to try this 'Sledgehammer' LE version.
So, lets get into it and see how it stacks up!
Construction & Burn
Never expected to see any fault here, Casa Cuevas have a long and well respected history in cigar making and do not compromise on the quality of their rolling one bit.
Flavour & Complexity
Outstanding flavour and complexity! Up front is wood, earth and tobacco before entering into cherries, spices and pepper throughout the 2nd & 3rd thirds, finishing with a nice pepper hit and a underlying sweetness.
The La Mandarria is considered by Casa Cuevas to be their first full bodied, full strength cigar and damn is it that! Those that know me know I am a big fan of bold strong cigars and this is right up my ally.
Damn I like this cigar. This is a outstanding cigar for people looking for a bit more punch out of their sticks and as I said, I love heavy stogies so from me this gets 92 points.
